The house hits the set temperature and still feels wrong. In this climate that is almost always a moisture problem, not a temperature one.

A house that reaches its setpoint and still feels damp has a moisture problem, and the thermostat will not fix it. Usually the equipment is oversized and satisfies the thermostat before it has run long enough to pull water out of the air, or humid air is getting in from a crawlspace or an attic faster than the coil can dry it. The answer is run time, sealing or dedicated dehumidification — not a colder setting, which just makes the house cold and clammy instead of warm and clammy.
